HALL OF FAME HORSES

Here are some of our favourite horse friends.

DOC CHIPPEWA SHADE 1994-2003

The horse world has lost a wonderful friend with the passing of Doc Chippewa Shade.  Doc suffered a severely fractured leg while being trailered to service a mare in August, 2003. Despite all the very best efforts of his family and vets, there was no option but to help him out of his pain. Such a loving, trusting stallion is a rare find, and Doc is sorely missed by his family. The huge feeling of loss and mourning continues, but so does his legacy for Doc is survived by 7 beautiful Paint foals.

In Loving Memory of "ANISETT" (1982-2003)
Little "Annie" was put to rest this week.
She leaves behind her stable mates, "Gypsy Flyer", and "Rocky Road Cowboy".
We will all miss her very, very much.
She was a special little Mare.

Look up into heaven
You'll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved

Manes and tails flowing
They gallop through time
They were never yours
They were never mine

Don't cry for the horses
They will be back someday
When our time has come
They will show us the way

Do you hear that soft nicker
Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses
Love the ones that are here.
This is my pony Harry, but I called him Haz-bin, he is a 14.1hh welsh gelding, I have only owned him since Christmas 2001 but I love him more than anything. We compete in a lot of showjumping shows and done really well, we have six trophies and over 30 rossettes from only this year. Harry maybe 11 yrs old but he still acts as if he is 3, He is very fast round jump offs. But the best thing about him is that he would do anything for me, once we went into a class where the jump is highed every time and it ended up at 4'7 and he still picked up his little legs and jumped it for me. I really wish he could live forever! Sammié, Age 15, England
My pony's name is Buddy. Buddy and I are BEST friends. He can do everything and anything that I ask him to. I have had Buddy for almost four years. Buddy's nickname is Mr. Nibbles because he likes to nibble on ANYTHING, especially fingers! Buddy is an 11 year old, 11.2 hh Welsh Mountain Pony. Buddy's stable mates are Strider, Okie and Janey. His dog friends are Dodger and Daisy, but he doesn't like the cats as much because they sleep in his space. Buddy and Strider are best horse friends. How I got Buddy was from the Parksville/Qualicum Pony Club. They had been keeping an eye on him for me, knowing that the pony I had before had died. When Buddy first got out of the horse trailer and saw his new home, he knew it was a good one. Buddy is so cute! Karmen L. Parksville, BC
My horse, Spring, is the best horse in the whole world.  She is 23 years old, and I have had her for five years.  Spring will do ANYTHING I ask her to do.  She goes on trail rides, jumps over things if I ask and goes in some small horse shows.  Sometimes we win ribbons, but mostly I love Spring because she is my best friend.  I can tell that she loves me just as much as I love her.  Samantha, age 9, Raleigh, NC

This is Buster, but I call him 'Brown Horse'.  I love him so-o-o much!  He loves his cookies, and he will never starve.  Brown is really cute, as you can see from the picture.  Not only is he smart, he is usually boss horsey.  Buster Brown likes to go for trail rides to the river with his friends.  If you see a blur, it will probably be me and my Brown passing by.  Being very good at jumping and games, he also does everything else.  Krista, Qualicum Beach, BC
This is my registered Arabian named Nodramas Grande but 'Grande' for short. He stands 14.3 hands tall. Before his retirement, he was used for the 100 mile endurance rides, for stamina, not speed. He was bred at Nodramas Farms in Ocala, Florida. He is very special to me. When I was little, almost every day my mom would put me up on his back, for balance. One day I fell off, and I remember him standing there looking down at me, not moving an inch for fear of hurting me. Any evening, you can find me standing in his corral, forehead-to-forehead with him, resting, bonding. He is almost 28 years old, and I know he isn't going to be with me forever, like I want him to be. I am going to miss him when he's gone, but while he's with me, I'm going to cherish every moment I have with him. This is why I think he should be on your 'Hall of Fame'.  Eryn, age16, Deland Florida
Missouri was a beautiful sorrel and white tobiano filly bought at auction and saved from  the fate of the meat men.  She was adopted out to us by an organization called Foalquest in Alberta, Canada that finds loving new homes for PMU foals and saves them from their fate at the feedlots. Missouri was to go to our home in Ontario and start her new life with us. We put her picture up in our home and counted the days until she could join us. Before Missouri even got to leave Alberta, she received a severe eye injury that could not be repaired, and had to go onto greener pastures.

We  miss you so much Missouri and will wonder everyday, what you would have been like.
So close, Missouri. You almost made it.
